  • Clear the Way to Write
Do you feel overwhelmed, distracted, scattered, or exhausted when you sit down to write? This lesson takes you through three simple, transformative exercises to clear mental, emotional and physical space so that you feel energized, focused and inspired every time you sit down to work on your book.

  • Getting to Your Why
Do your fears or doubts ever creep in, and you ask yourself, “Why am I even doing this? Why does this even matter?” This lesson walks you through how to write your book manifesto, a simple one-page document you can return to again and again and feel reinvigorated as you remember the heart of your mission for writing your book.

  • Establishing Your Writing Routine
This lesson has been a total game-changer for so many of my clients! • Writing Your Outline
Whether you are a “plotter” or a “pantser” this lesson presents a helpful framework for thinking about the outline process for your book and creating a roadmap to follow on your writing journey. Some clients create an outline before writing their book; others use this module to help them create an outline after writing their first draft to help with the editing process. However you use it, outlining is definitely a tool you want in your writer’s toolbox and this lesson teaches you what you need to know.

  • Structuring Your Book
This lesson is geared towards nonfiction writers and goes into a variety of different book structures that work effectively for self-help, memoir, and other nonfiction genres. Often structure is the biggest obstacle that prevents writers from getting started on their book. The good news? Once you decide on the structure that works best for your specific book project, you will feel a sense of ease, relief, and like “the pieces are falling into place!”

  • The Story Arc & Why it Matters
This lesson is geared towards fiction writers who are working on novels or short story collections (although the lessons of story arc can be useful for nonfiction writers as well who are sharing personal stories throughout their book.)

  • Use Details to Boost Your Writing Power
This lesson goes through helpful exercises and examples to take your writing from “ho-hum” to immersive and unforgettable. If you’ve ever felt like you want to enrich the power of your words and sentences, but aren’t quite sure how or where to start, this lesson is a goldmine!

  • Find Your Greater Meaning
What is the greater meaning of your book? Why should the reader care? What will stick with us beyond simply the events of the story or the tips and advice you share? This lesson will help you identify and highlight the themes and greater meaning of your book, that will not only inspire you to keep writing – these are very useful later on when you are marketing your book!

  • Keep Going Past the Muddy Middle
Did you know an estimated 97% of people who start writing a book never finish? Many people give up somewhere in the middle of the process, when the draft starts to feel messy and confusing, and the end still feels far away. I call this “the muddy middle” and it is a normal part of the process of writing a book. This lesson will keep you inspired and motivated with concrete action steps and advice to continue pushing on in your draft.

  • Move Past Imposter Syndrome & Embrace Your Writing Confidence
Do you struggle with imposter syndrome around your writing? Do you ever think, “Why would someone care what I have to say?” or “Who am I to think I could be an author?” This lesson will help you quiet those negative voices and heighten your inner well of confidence so that every writing session will feel lighter, easier and more joyful, too. Many people tell me this is a lesson they return to again and again!

  • Editing & Clarifying Your Message
Congratulations, you’ve finished your first draft!! Now what? Some writers languish during this part of the process, unsure how to move forward. Not you! This lesson is a master-level deep-dive into the editing process, from developmental editing to copyediting to proofreading, giving you all the nuts and bolts you need to know both for editing the manuscript yourself, and perhaps hiring an editor to work with you.

  • All About Beta Readers & Copyeditors
Beta-what? A beta reader is an early reader of your manuscript who gives you big-picture feedback so that you can make changes before passing the book off to a copyeditor. Beta readers can be invaluable, but only if you go about the process with intention. This lesson takes you through the process of choosing the best beta readers for your own particular book, how to ensure they are actually focusing on what is most useful to you, and how to make the most of their feedback.

  • Traditional vs. Self-Publishing
This is perhaps the question I get asked most frequently: “How do I get my book published once it’s done?” The good news is, in today’s world, there are more options than ever before for publishing your book, and the power is truly in your hands. The bad news is that all of these options can be very overwhelming! I have firsthand experience in a variety of different publishing paths, from going through a literary agent to approaching traditional publishers myself to self-publishing my own books, and I have learned that publishing isn’t “one size fits all” – one route is not “better” than the next. This lesson goes through the pros and cons of traditional publishing and self-publishing so that you can make the best choice for YOU and your book in this season of your life.

  • Putting Your Book Together
This lesson goes through all the “extra bits” you might not notice when you are reading a book, but that are necessary for the final polished product. From the dedication to the table of contents to the acknowledgements to the author biography and more, watch this lesson to ensure your manuscript is ready to go and you can make the manuscript-to-book process as seamless as possible.

  • Writing an Attention-Grabbing Summary
More than one client has bemoaned to me that writing the summary of their book for the back cover and sales page is more challenging than writing the actual book! How do you fit everything you want to say about your book in only a few short paragraphs? How do you grab a reader’s attention and get them to take a look inside? Never fear, this lesson walks you through exactly how to write a riveting book summary that also feels authentic to YOU and your mission for the book.

  • How to Create a Book Club Guide
Book clubs are a fantastic way to spread the word about your book, reach new readers, and grow book sales organically through word-of-mouth. Creating a book club guide is an easy way to make your book more attractive and approachable for book clubs. This quick module walks you through examples of how to create a book club guide and what you might include in one.

  • Your Marketing Plan
In many ways, publishing your book is just the beginning. Now comes the next challenge: selling your book! For many people, “sales” feels intimidating or perhaps even icky, but it doesn’t need to be that way. Marketing your book can be a meaningful, lifegiving, even FUN process when you view it through the lens of connection. This lesson teaches you how to create a simple, actionable marketing plan that fits in with your personality style so that you can focus your time on what lights you up, not drains your energy. Prepare to be inspired and buzzing with ideas about numerous ways you can spread the word about your book!

  • Planning Your Dream Book Launch
It’s finally here – publication day! This lesson takes you through steps and ideas for planning your ideal book launch to celebrate your achievement and introduce your book baby to the world. Many clients have shared with me that their book launches are the most special days of their lives, up there with weddings and births of children. This will be a memory you will always treasure, and this module will help you plan the event to match your personality, capacity and season of life so it can be a time of joy, enthusiasm and deep contentment, not stress!

  • Creating a Book Sales Page
How do you convince a stranger to buy your book? Your book sales page is a captivating introduction to your book that will leave the reader wanting more. This lesson gives you ideas for different features to include on the sales page for your book, whether that is on Amazon, other platforms like Barnes and Noble, or even your own website. Even if you don’t consider yourself “tech-savvy” you can create a simple, memorable sales page that draws in new readers for your book.

  • How to Get Reviews for Your Book
Reviews are crucial for the ongoing life of your book. Think about when you are going to buy a product–not just a book, but anything new. What do you typically check out first? I’m guessing it’s the reviews! The same is true for potential readers of your book. Even if they have never heard of you before, positive reviews from other people will convince them to take a chance on your book. It is important “social proof” for your book. This lesson goes through how to find reviewers for your book, both pre-publication and after your book is published.

  • Using Your Book to Open Doors
You are officially an author now. What other dreams in your life can your book unlock for you? This lesson is an invitation to dream big about this new milestone you have achieved and gives plenty of examples of ways that your book can open doors for your dreams to come true.
